Who We Are | Marla
Kolman is Co-founder and Executive Director of Partners In Peace. She has
worked for over 10 years directing programs, teaching and facilitating groups
on both the local and national levels, primarily in the area of leadership development.
She holds a B.A. in Child Development from Tufts University and an M.S.W. with
a focus in Community Organizing from the University of Maryland School of Social
Work. After receiving her masters she spent a year living and working in Israel
on a volunteer human service program called Project OTZMA, and she considers Israel
her second home. She has worked nationally and internationally as an advisor and
educator with youth of all ages and has developed curriculum for faith-based teen
programs. Having served on the regional board and the New Generations board of
the New Israel Fund for five years, Marla and was recently awarded the New Generations
Leadership Award.
Joanne
Garfield is Co-founder and Program Director of Partners in Peace. She received
her MA in Teaching from Southern Oregon University and has worked with teens in
a variety of settings for over 15 years, including alternative high school programs
for at-risk youth. For her work in the Grants Pass (OR) school system, she received
the city's Asset Building Award. While living in Israel for three years, Joanne
led teen programs for the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), and
Project OTZMA. She has a B.A. in International Relations and Russian Language
from Rutgers University.
