Our Tools | Digital Storytelling Storytelling
is an ancient form of learning and transmitting wisdom found in many religious
and cultural traditions around the world. Stories allow us to learn about each
other without judgment or agendas. Digital Storytelling moves the art of storytelling
into the 21st century by using computers to create personal mini-movies, which
can be burned onto CD-roms. In a medium that is both creative and personal, the
process allows students to wrestle with their identities and find their own voices.
By rendering these stories digitally, it becomes easy to exchange them with others
all over the world, allowing us to learn about other people and cultures in ways
that respect and honor each person's humanity, experiences and perspectives.
PIP has access to a portable digital storytelling lab, which can be set up on-site.
Appreciative Inquiry (A.I.) AI is the methodology we use
to bring groups together in dialogue and collaboration. It is a step-by-step
process of relationship-building through which people learn to listen, tell their
stories, glean wisdom from the past, seek out areas of common ground and share
visions for the future, culminating in collaborative projects which benefit everyone.
The advantage of applying this methodology to inter-group work is that it allows
us to focus on the future rather than the past when creatively constructing new
ways to relate to each other in our shared global community. This methodology
is particularly relevant to teens, as they desire to feel empowered to make changes
in their lives and their communities. AI allows them a vehicle to work together,
harness their creativity and make real change. Web Technologies PIP
takes advantage in the latest advances in communications and web technologies
and puts them to use in service of bringing people together in dialogue and collaboration.
E-pals, online discussions, web cams, and video conferencing allow us to connect
teens to each other all over the world, with no geographical limitations or boundaries.
